Thailand Non-O Visa Requirements

Applicants for a marriage visa for Thailand or other non-immigrant O visa Thailand categories must normally provide the following:

• Passport with at least 6 months' validity.

• Completed visa application form.

• A recent photograph (4 × 6 cm) of the applicant taken within the past 6 months.

• Evidence of adequate finance:

  • 20,000 THB per person

  • 40,000 THB per family

Additional documents may be required depending on the visa category and the purpose of stay.

Requirements for Non-immigrant O Visa Thailand

Applicants for a Thai marriage or spouse visa must provide the following:

• Proof of relationship (e.g., marriage or birth certificate).

• An employment certificate and a valid work permit for anyone working in Thailand (if applicable).

• Evidence confirming that the spouse is a Thai national or legal resident.

• A supporting letter from an embassy, consulate, government agency, international organization or state enterprise (if applicable).

Requirements for Medical Treatment

Applicants entering Thailand for medical treatment must provide:

• An acceptance letter from a hospital or medical institution recognized by the Thai authorities.

Requirements for Court Appearance

Applicants must provide:

• An official letter or summons issued by a Thai court.

Requirements for Retirement (age 50+)

Applicants applying under the retirement category must

• Be at least 50 years old.

• Clearly state the purpose of retirement or long-term stay.

• Confirm that no employment will be undertaken.

• Provide proof of financial status or pension income.

For extended retirement stays, applicants may also wish to consider the Non-Immigrant O-A (Long Stay) or Non-Immigrant O-X (10-Year Long Stay) visa categories.

Obligations for Non-O Visa Thailand Holders

1. Reporting their residential address every 90 days.

2. Maintaining the required level of financial funds in a Thai bank account (if applicable).

3. Ensuring that a TM30 residence notification has been submitted.

4. Obtaining a re-entry permit before leaving Thailand if holding a yearly extension.

5. Fully complying with Thai immigration laws.

6. Failure to comply may result in fines, visa cancellation or termination of the permitted stay.
