Free Trade Agreement between EU and Thailand expected for 2026.

Between September 23 and 26, 2025 the Thailand Board of Investment hosted 3 events in Linz, Brussels, and The Hague with the purpose to inform interested companies about investment opportunities in Thailand. Participants were mostly SME from Austria, Belgium, and The Netherlands, who showed big interest in the region, mostly as a diversification to already existing global engagements in other countries.

Each event started by motivation speeches given respectively by Their Excellencies the Thai ambassadors to Austria, Belgium, and The Netherlands. All three ambassadors emphasized their support for a rule based global trade system and international collaboration. After this the BOI, represented by their Deputy Secretary General Ms. Tanita Sirisup explained the investment promotion schemes of the Thai government. Then at all three locations a short wrap up of the status of the currently held EU-Thailand Free Trade Agreement negotiations was given. The Thailand negotiation team expects concluding these FTA negotiations within next year, a statement which was particularly welcomed by the participating companies.

According to figures by the Thai government this FTA is expected to significantly increase the trading volume between the EU and Thailand. Each event was then concluded by Q&A in the form of a panel discussion where among others we as the Sanet Group participated sharing our experience from many years of company consultation in Thailand.

Thai-Belgian Business Forum

The BOI supports companies in Europe with their offices in Frankfurt, Paris, and Stockholm. The Business Forums were organized by the Frankfurt office, which is also in charge of Austria and Benelux. The newly appointed BOI Frankfurt director Mrs. Romrawee Chandrasen offered support for interested companies.

The event series showed how a good cooperation between government like BOI and a private consultancy like Sanet can enrich each other and support our common goal of making Thailand attractive for foreign investments.
